Turkey has started the flight-testing of the locally developed advanced targeting and reconnaissance pod. Pod is being developed by the Turkish defence firm Aselsan.

Around $50 million has been spent over the project by the Aselsan to design and develop the Aselpod. It is designed to track up to 4 targets at the same time using infrared (IR) and day video.


Aselpod pod have 3rd generation IR camera which also allows the zoom function. Tests of Aselpod are underway at the air base in Eskisehir. Turkish Air Force has indicated that it wants integrate Aselpod to F-4E 2020 before the end of this year.
