The The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)  will soon decide about possible conversion of around 12 of its Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets fighter jets into Boeing EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft.

The RAAF has purchased 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets fighter jets at a cost of $6.7 billion to fill the gap created in the strike capability due to the retirement of the General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark medium-range strike aircrafts.

Boeing EA-18G Growler is a cutting-edge electronic-warfare aircraft which is designed to perform escort and radar-jamming missions. EA-18G Growler block 1 is equipped with upto 3 AN/ALQ-99 radar jamming pods which houses exciters & high radiated power jamming transmitters.
