The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROK Air Force) is interested in the purchase of 177 AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) at cost of $343 million) for its F-15K Slam Eagle and KF-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets.

American JASSM is the preferred option of the ROCK Air Force to meet their requirement of  low observable standoff cruise missile for the fighter jets. South Korean officials has indicated that they are also looking at the Germen Taurus KEPD 350 air-launched cruise missile as possible alternative if United States  continues to delay the export licence of the JASSM.

South Korean officials has said that JASSM is the preferred option of the air force as it's per unit cost is about one third of the Taurus cruise missile and it will be far more easier to integrate them with the Fighter jets of the American origin.

The United States government has already exported the  AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) to the Royal Australian Air Force for their F/A-18 Hornets and Royal Netherlands Air Force for their F-16 fighter jets.

The AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) can accuately deliver a warhead of 450 kg to a distance over 370 kilometers while German Taurus can deliver a warhead of 500 kg to a distance of 500 kilometers.
